Migrant laborers clash with locals in Punjab, one killed

Chandigarh: A man was killed and another seriously injured in a clash between two migrant laborers and two Punjabi men while consuming liquor at a house in Chak Kalan village, police said on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Varinder Singh of Kasuana, Ferozepur district, while the injured, Karamjit Singh of Pandori Khatrian village, is undergoing treatment in Ludhiana. The accused, identified as Ramesh Singh and Sajan Kumar, fled after the altercation.

According to police, the four laborers, who worked in nearby potato fields, were drinking together when a dispute broke out, leading to the attack.

Dakha police station ASI Atma Singh stated that an investigation is underway and the accused will be arrested soon. DSP Varinder Singh Khosa confirmed their identities and assured action against them.
