SIT formed in Kapurthala against pastor Bajinder Singh over sexual assault allegations
Chandigarh: The Kapurthala police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) after an FIR was registered against Bajinder Singh (42), the pastor of Tarapur Church in Punjab’s Kapurthala, for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman.
The SIT includes SP Phagwara Rupinder Kaur Bhatti, DSP Deepkaran Singh, and City Police Station SHO Vikramjit Singh, confirmed Kapurthala police SP D Sarabjit Singh Rai.
Punjab Women’s Commission member Lali Gill has taken cognizance of the matter and has directed the police to submit an inquiry report at the earliest.
According to the FIR, the complainant alleged that Bajinder Singh, associated with ‘The Church of Glory and Wisdom’ in Jalandhar’s Tajpur village, misbehaved with her in Jalandhar.
She claimed that her parents started attending the church in October 2017, and around the same time, Bajinder Singh began sending her inappropriate messages.
The woman further alleged that in 2022, he started calling her alone into a cabin inside the church, where he behaved inappropriately with her.
