Metro expansion in Gurugram set to ease Delhi-Haryana commute
Chandigarh: Commuters travelling between Delhi and Haryana for work may soon find their journeys smoother, as Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has announced the beginning of work on a new metro corridor.
The project marks the first phase of Gurugram’s metro expansion and is expected to significantly improve regional connectivity.
According to officials, the construction of a fully elevated viaduct will begin once the tender process concludes in April. The groundwork is likely to commence in May, with rapid progress anticipated.
The proposed 15.2-km metro stretch will run from HUDA City Centre to Sector-9, featuring 14 elevated stations. Key stops along the route will include Sector 9, Sector 10, Sector 33, Sector 37, Sector 45, Sector 46 (Cyber Park), Sector 47, Subhash Chowk, Sector 48, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar 6, and Basai.
The elevated design ensures that metro operations will not disrupt road traffic, allowing passengers to travel safely and efficiently.
Officials added that this new line will not only improve access to Gurugram for Delhi residents, but also enhance connectivity to other parts of Haryana.
The expansion is expected to boost commercial activity in the region as well.
