Delhi court declines to issue notices to Sonia, Rahul Gandhi in National Herald case
New Delhi: A Delhi court on Friday refused to issue notices to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and others in the National Herald money laundering case.
The matter was being heard by Special Judge Vishal Gogne, who was considering a petition filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The agency had argued that under the amended provisions of the law, a notice on a complaint—equivalent to the ED’s charge sheet—cannot be issued without first hearing the accused.
“We do not want this order to go on for long. Notice should be issued,” the ED submitted. However, the judge said the court cannot pass such an order unless it is satisfied that a notice is required.
