ED arrests former Haryana Congress MLA Dharam Singh Chhokar in Rs 500 crore fraud case

Chandigarh: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested former Haryana Congress MLA Dharam Singh Chhokar in connection with a Rs 500 crore money laundering case.
The 61-year-old was reportedly detained from a hotel in Delhi on Sunday and will be produced before a court in Gurugram.
Chhokar, a former legislator from the Samalkha assembly seat in Panipat district, had contested the Haryana Assembly polls last year but lost.
He, along with his sons Vikas Chhokar (absconding) and Sikander Chhokar, is accused of duping over 1,500 homebuyers and siphoning off funds through real estate ventures.
The ED had earlier arrested Sikander, who is currently out on bail. Multiple non-bailable warrants have been issued by a special PMLA court against Dharam Singh Chhokar and Vikas Chhokar. In March, the ED issued a public notice summoning Chhokar to appear before it on May 19.
The case stems from an FIR registered by Gurugram Police against Sai Aina Farms and associated companies.
