Pope Leo XIV urges global peace, welcomes India-Pakistan ceasefire

Vatican City: In his first Sunday address as pope, Pope Leo XIV said there was no need for another war at this time and urged world powers to work toward peace in conflict zones.

The pope called for a ceasefire in Gaza, peace in Ukraine, and the release of all Israeli hostages.

He also welcomed the recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan, saying he was praying for global peace.

Reiterating the words of his predecessor, the late Pope Francis, Pope Leo XIV said, “No more war.”
