Punjab Police bust ISI-backed drug racket, seize 85 kg heroin

Chandigarh: The Punjab Police has busted a Pakistan-based, ISI-sponsored drug smuggling racket and arrested an Indian operative with 85 kg of heroin. Officials said the gang was being run by a UK-based handler.

SSP Abhimanyu Rana said the arrested smuggler has been identified as Amarjot Singh Jota.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the kingpin of the racket is a UK-based individual named Lali, who is allegedly operating the international drug network in collaboration with associates based in Pakistan.

The police said further investigation is underway to trace other operatives involved in the network.
