New Delhi: India on Tuesday strongly condemned an attack on an Indian-flagged cargo vessel in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen that caused the ship to sink. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that all 13 Indian nationals on board were rescued safely.
In a statement, the MEA said the attack targeted the Indian-flagged cargo vessel MSV Faize Noore Oliya, which sank near the Yemeni coast on August 4.
“We strongly condemn the attack on the Indian-flagged cargo vessel MSV Faize Noore Oliya in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen. All 13 Indian nationals on board have been rescued safely,” the ministry said.
The MEA added that the Indian Embassy in Riyadh is closely monitoring the situation and remains in constant contact with Yemeni authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of the rescued crew members.
India also expressed concern over the continued targeting of commercial shipping in the region and called for an immediate end to such attacks.
The ministry thanked the Yemeni authorities for their assistance in the rescue operation and their support in ensuring the safety of the Indian crew.
