Sukhbir Singh Badal Meets PM Narendra Modi at Parliament House; BJP-SAD Alliance Buzz Returns, Punjab Issues in Focus

Punjab E News (PEN News):  Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parliament House in New Delhi on Friday, triggering fresh political speculation over the future of the BJP-Shiromani Akali Dal alliance.

The high-level meeting took place during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament and has generated significant interest in political circles. Although the official agenda has not been disclosed, sources said the leaders are likely to discuss a range of issues concerning Punjab, including development, law and order, agriculture, and the current political scenario in the state.

The meeting has also reignited discussions about the possibility of the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal reviving their long-standing alliance, which ended in 2020 following differences over the now-repealed farm laws. However, neither the BJP nor the SAD has confirmed that any alliance-related talks are part of the discussions.

Political observers believe the interaction could be significant ahead of upcoming political developments in Punjab, where both parties are looking to strengthen their position.

As of now, neither the Prime Minister’s Office nor the Shiromani Akali Dal has issued an official statement on the outcome of the meeting. Further details are expected after the meeting concludes, which may provide clarity on the issues discussed and whether there is any progress regarding future political cooperation between the two parties.
