Barnala: A man has been booked under the POCSO Act in Barnala’s Mehal Kalan area for allegedly sexually assaulting his minor daughter.
Police registered a case against the accused, identified as Jagseer Singh, following a complaint by the girl’s mother. The accused is reportedly absconding and police teams are conducting raids to trace him.
According to Inspector Veerpal Kaur, who is investigating the case, family members were asleep when the incident allegedly took place. At around 2am, the mother heard her daughter crying and went to her room.
The girl was reportedly frightened. After her mother spoke to her and encouraged her to explain what had happened, the minor disclosed the alleged incident.
The mother subsequently approached the police and filed a complaint.
Police said a case has been registered against the accused under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections based on the statements of the minor and her mother. Efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
