Chandigarh: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will visit Punjab on August 28 to mark the historic occasion of Rakhar Punnia. During his one-day visit, he will pay obeisance at the Golden Temple in Amritsar and the historic Gurdwara Baba Bakala Sahib.
According to a government spokesperson, Chouhan will also interact directly with farmers at a ‘Kisan Chaupal’ in Umra Nangal village near Baba Bakala, where discussions will focus on agriculture, farmers’ concerns and government welfare schemes.
As per the official programme, Chouhan will reach Amritsar in the morning and first visit the Golden Temple to seek blessings. He will then travel to Umra Nangal, where he will participate in the Kisan Chaupal from 11 am.
At around 12:15 pm, he will visit Gurdwara Baba Bakala Sahib and pay obeisance. He will then attend the main Rakhar Punnia programme from 12:30 pm.
Chouhan is scheduled to leave Amritsar for Bhopal at 3:30 pm.
BJP to hold political conference at Baba Bakala
The Punjab BJP is organising its first political conference at Baba Bakala during the Rakhar Punnia fair on its own.
Apart from Chouhan, Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon and other senior BJP leaders are expected to attend the conference.
