Pargat Singh Bows at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib After Being Named Punjab Congress Chief

New Delhi: Jalandhar Cantonment Congress MLA Pargat Singh paid obeisance at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in Delhi after being appointed Punjab Congress president.

Speaking at the gurdwara, Pargat Singh said that whenever one visits the shrine, prayers are offered for the welfare of the world and Punjab. He added that he also prayed for the strength to reject negative politics and enable Punjab to play its rightful role.

Addressing questions about factionalism within the Congress, Pargat Singh said there was no factionalism in the party, but differences in opinion. He said all Congress leaders were together on one platform and maintained that the party functioned through mutual understanding rather than dictatorship.

Later, Pargat Singh, accompanied by Amritsar MP Gurjit Aujla, met Congress leader Sachin Pilot at his residence in Delhi.

Asked why the Congress had not announced a chief ministerial face for Punjab, Pargat Singh said the party functioned democratically and did not announce a CM face in advance. He said the decision on who would become chief minister would be taken by the elected MLAs after the party wins the election.
