CM Bhagwant Mann to Meet 75-Year-Old Woman Whose Video Celebrating ₹3,000 Aid Went Viral

Bathinda: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will meet 75-year-old Gurmel Kaur, a Dalit woman from Adampura village in Bathinda district, after a video of her celebrating the receipt of the second instalment under the ‘Mawan Dhiyan Satikar Yojana’ went viral on social media.

In the video, Gurmel Kaur can be heard expressing her happiness after receiving ₹3,000, saying, “Today, it has happened again, and I am very happy.” Her emotional reaction drew attention on social media, and Chief Minister Mann had also mentioned her during a public programme.

Following the video’s circulation, the Chief Minister’s Office contacted her family. Mann expressed his wish to meet her, following which the Punjab government sent a special vehicle to bring her for the meeting.

Markfed chairman Inderjit Singh Mann said Gurmel Kaur belongs to Adampura village in his Rampura Phul constituency. He said her husband works as a chowkidar, while their two sons work as daily-wage labourers and drivers.

The family is reportedly associated with the Congress. Gurmel Kaur said she had never imagined that someone from a poor family like hers would get an opportunity to visit the Chief Minister’s residence.

Gurmel Kaur has also become popular on social media, with family members regularly recording and sharing videos featuring her. She was reportedly excited about meeting Chief Minister Mann.
