Chandigarh: Newly appointed Punjab Congress president Pargat Singh on Sunday met Gursharan Kaur, wife of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, and sought her blessings before beginning his new political responsibility.
Pargat Singh presented her with a bouquet during the meeting. He said Dr Manmohan Singh’s simplicity, dedication and integrity had always been a source of inspiration for him.
The Congress high command appointed Pargat Singh as the Punjab Congress president on October 2. After being given the new responsibility, he had met senior party leaders Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi and Punjab Congress in-charge Sachin Pilot.
Pargat Singh has said he would work as the “captain of a team”, taking everyone along and becoming the voice of the people of Punjab.
