Waris Punjab De delegation meets Punjab governor over Election Commission decision

Chandigarh: A delegation of the Akali Dal Waris Punjab De on Tuesday met Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and submitted a memorandum protesting against the Election Commission of India over the delay in registering the party.

The delegation was led by senior leader Manpreet Singh Ayali and MP Sarabjit Singh Khalsa.

After the meeting, Ayali alleged that the Election Commission had withheld the party’s registration citing concerns related to national security. He described the decision as unfair and said the party had raised its objections before the governor.

Ayali further alleged that other political parties, including the BJP, viewed Waris Punjab De as a potential electoral challenge and claimed that this was behind efforts to prevent its registration.

These allegations were made by the party leaders and have not been independently established. The Election Commission’s position and the reasons for its decision remain relevant to the matter.
