Majithia accuses Arvind Kejriwal of misleading Punjabis over drug-money case

Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Wednesday accused Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal of misleading Punjabis by portraying a disproportionate assets case as a drug-related case.

Majithia alleged that the issue was being used as a political tactic to divert public attention from Punjab’s pressing problems and the challenges facing the state.

He said his lawyer, DS Sobti, had presented the relevant facts before the court. Majithia claimed that the proceedings had established that he had no direct or indirect links with drug trafficking.

The Akali leader further alleged that the government had failed to establish any connection between him and the alleged ₹736-crore drug-money case. He also claimed that the prosecution had not produced conclusive evidence that he provided vehicles to anyone involved in trafficking or assisted such activities.

The allegations and counterclaims remain subject to the ongoing legal proceedings.
