London: Acting Akal Takht jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj arrived in the United Kingdom after visiting Norway and attended the 10th anniversary event of the UK-based Sikh Recovery Network at the British Parliament.
The organisation works to help people affected by drug addiction recover and reintegrate into mainstream society. Speakers and individuals who had overcome addiction shared their experiences at the event and highlighted the importance of such initiatives.
Participants also remembered Parvinder Singh Jhotta, known for his campaign against drugs in Mansa, Punjab, by reciting the Mool Mantar. Gargajj offered prayers for justice in the murder case and for the well-being and progress of Punjab’s youth.
He said those involved in selling drugs were enemies of society and called for their identification and social boycott.
During the parliamentary visit, Gargajj also met Lord Kuldeep Singh Sahota, and the two discussed various issues. UK MPs Gurinder Singh Josan, Preet Kaur Gill, Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi and Sonia Kumar were among those present at the event.
