Chandigarh: Punjab Congress president Pargat Singh on Thursday said the ‘Insaaf rally’ to be addressed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Sangrur on November 4 would be a decisive platform to raise issues concerning Punjab’s rights, future and demand for justice.
Singh said the party expected more than one lakh people from across Punjab to attend the rally. He accused the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party government of remaining silent on issues affecting farmers, young people and ordinary citizens over the past four-and-a-half years.
He said the Congress, under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, would raise questions on law and order, drug abuse, unemployment, paddy procurement and incidents of sacrilege.
Describing the rally as more than a political gathering, Singh said it would give voice to farmers’ concerns, the future of young people and the public’s demand for justice.
He added that Punjab needed an accountable government to address the challenges of drug abuse, unemployment and the deteriorating law-and-order situation.
