Jhotta’s last rites likely on November 7 at his fields, says action committee

Mansa: Anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhotta’s last rites will be performed at his own fields, with the funeral likely to take place on November 7, said Hardeep Singh Sidhu, media in-charge of the action committee.

Sidhu said Jhotta’s body would be handed over to the family after the postmortem at PGI Chandigarh. As per the family’s wishes, the cremation will be held at their fields.

He added that the family and the action committee were discussing preparations for the last rites. An official announcement regarding the funeral timing will be made after the postmortem.

Jhotta was allegedly shot dead on October 13 following a confrontation at a medical store in Mansa over the alleged sale of narcotic drugs.

His body remained in the mortuary of Mansa Civil Hospital for 24 days amid protests and tensions with the state government. It was shifted to PGIMER Chandigarh late on Thursday night for the postmortem.
