Vigilance registers case against former MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur, issues lookout notice

Chandigarh: Former Congress MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur has been named by the Vigilance bureau probing the alleged scam in the acquisition of 1,104 acres of land in five villages of Shambhu block for the Amritsar-Kolkata Integrated Corridor in Ghanaur constituency of Patiala. A lookout notice has also been issued against them by the Vigilance Bureau.

It may be recalled that the PVB had acquired 1104 acres of land belonging to five villages – Akdi, Sehra, Sehri, Takhtumajra and Pabaran – for which compensation of about Rs. 205 crore was given and the chakotadars of these villages received Rs. 97.8 crore separately.
Apart from the Rural Development and Panchayats Department, the Vigilance Bureau Patiala had investigated the matter. The FIR was registered by the Vigilance Range Patiala on May 26, 2022 and so far 34 government and private persons have been named in the case, including 10 private firms.
In the development works carried out by the panchayats of these villages with the compensation amount of crores of rupees, crores of rupees have been embezzled and irregularities have been done. According to important sources, the contractor of a private firm has admitted to giving the share to former MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur.
