Bomb attack on Japan’s PM Fumio Kishida, escapes unhurt; attacker arrested
New Delhi: During prime minister Fumio Kishida’s visit, a powerful explosion ripped through a port in western Japan this morning, but no casualties were reported. Meanwhile, the attacker has been arrested.
The Prime Minister was taken to the Wakayama Prefecture Police Headquarters.
The attack comes as the group’s ministerial meetings are scheduled to begin later this week in Japan ahead of the May 19-21 G7 summit.
The incident comes nine months after former prime minister Shinzo Abe was assassinated during an election campaign in the western city of Nara.
