Rahul Gandhi vacating house after being disqualified as MP

New Delhi: Congress leader and former MP from Wayanad in Kerala, Rahul Gandhi on Friday vacated his official residence at 12 Tughlaq Road. His belongings have been shifted to mother Sonia Gandhi’s 10 Janpath residence.

The bungalow was his official residence for nearly 19 years, but he was ordered to vacate it after he was disqualified as Parliament member.
In fact, on March 23, a Surat court sentenced him to 2 years imprisonment in the defamation case. However, he was also granted bail shortly after.
The next day, Rahul’s Lok Sabha membership was cancelled. On March 27, he was served a notice to vacate the bungalow.
After receiving the notice, Rahul had said that he has many good memories associated with the government bungalow. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had then suggested him to shift to his or Sonia’s bungalow.
