‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ removed from YouTube after row over content

New Delhi: The Hindi version of the song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ from the upcoming film KD: The Devil has been removed from YouTube following a controversy over its content.

Users attempting to access the video now see a message stating that the video is unavailable or has been made private. Actor Nora Fatehi has also deleted the song from her Instagram account.

However, the song continues to remain available in other languages, including Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

The controversy erupted after former cricketer and MP Harbhajan Singh objected to the song, alleging that its dance moves and expressions were vulgar and could negatively influence young audiences.

Meanwhile, Vasu Ranjan Shandilya, chairman of the Chandigarh Council of Lawyers, submitted a complaint to the SSP in Chandigarh seeking action against the song.

The film’s makers have not issued a detailed statement but the removal of the video is seen as a response to the growing backlash.
