4 arrested in connection with Punjabi university student’s murder

Chandigarh: Police have arrested four youths in connection with the murder of engineering student Navjot Singh on the Punjabi University campus here. SSP Varun Sharma told a press conference that the reason for the murder was due to the electricity bill of the rented kothi. Police have arrested Mandeep Singh Jugnu of Village Sahib Nagar Patiala, Mohit Kamboj of Chak Punnawali of Fazilka district, Sanjot Singh of Village Thethar Kalan in Ferozepur district, Harwinder Singh of village Morwali in Faridkot district.

Mohit Kamboj, along with his four accomplices, used to stay on rent outside Punjabi University, the police official said.
On February 26, there was a minor scuffle between them outside the main gate of the university due to its electricity bill. There was no complaint from either side. On February 27, Mohit Kamboj, along with other colleagues, attacked Navjot Singh and others with sharp weapons inside the university over the electricity bill of kothi and Navjot died.
