Amritsar Police bust drug smuggling racket; Four held with 3kg heroin, ₹9 lac drug money
Amritsar: In a big blow to narcotic network amidst the ongoing war against drugs waged on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Police have busted a drug smuggling racket with the arrest of four persons after recovering 3Kg heroin and ₹9 Lac drug money from their possession, said Commisioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar here on Tuesday.
Those arrested have been identified as Vikramjeet Singh alias Vicky of Lohgarh in Amritsar, Rashpal Singh of village Hoshiar Nagar in Amritsar, Gourav alias Kali of Varyam Singh Colony in Amritsar and Sahil Kumar alias Manthan of Durgiana Abadi in Amritsar. Apart from seizing heroin, Police teams have also impounded their Innova car (PB11AX7843), in which they were going to supply the heroin consignment.
CP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that following reliable inputs Police teams from CIA Staff-1 under supervision of DCP Investigation Harpreet Singh Mander and ADCP CITY-3 Abhimanyu Rana conducted a special police checking in the area of Gol Bagh backside Railway Station Amritsar and arrested all the four accused persons when they were going to deliver the heroin consignment in their Innova car.
CP Bhullar said that the arrested accused Rashpal Singh has already been facing two criminal pertaining to theft and NDPS act at Amritsar Rural and Tarn Taran. Further investigations are being conducted to probe the backward and forward linkages and unearth the whole network of drug suppliers, dealers and their buyers, he said, while adding that efforts are being made to ascertain the total amount of narcotics procured by the arrested accused till date.
An FIR no. 143 dated 10-12-2023 has been registered under sections 21-C, 27-A and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station D Division in Amritsar.
