CBI arrests Sub-inspector, ASI on corruption charges in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: Two policemen have been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). This includes a sub-inspector and an ASI in the case of taking bribes.

According to information received from sources, Sub Inspector Balwinder Singh posted in Sector 17 Police Station of Chandigarh and ASI Harmeet Singh posted in PO Cell are accused of taking bribes. The agency is currently investigating the matter.

According to information received from CBI sources, accused ASI Harmeet Singh had demanded a bribe of Rs 100000 from the victim to suppress a case. The CBI had registered a case against Harmeet Singh.

Further investigation revealed that Harmeet Singh had demanded a bribe in the name of Sub Inspector Balwinder Singh, but later the agreement was reached for Rs 40,000. Meanwhile, the CBI arrested the accused.
