Farmers block Jammu-Delhi NH in Ludhiana over death of young farmer at Khanauri border

Chandigarh: The Bharatiya Kisan Union Qadian has expressed its protest over the death of Shubhakaran, a young farmer from Bathinda, who was killed during firing at Khanauri border amid the farmers’ agitation.

Farmers have blocked the Jammu-Delhi National Highway at Ladowal toll plaza in Phillaur, located on the border of Ludhiana and Jalandhar, starting from 11 am. This protest by the farmers will continue until 2 pm.

Providing information in this regard, Amrik Singh, district president of Bharatiya Kisan Union Qadian, stated that the organization has initiated a program to block the national highway.

Tractor-trolleys have been stationed in front of Gaushala near the Sutlej bridge, adjacent to the toll plaza on the national highway in Phillaur. Meanwhile, long queues of vehicles have formed on the national highway due to the traffic jam.

Simultaneously, an ambulance got stuck in the jam, and the farmers made way for it to reach its destination.
