One drug peddler killed, another arrested after encounter by police in Tarn Taran

Tarn Taran News:  An encounter broke out between drug smugglers and Punjab Police in Patti in Tarn Taran, Punjab. During this, one drug smuggler was killed in the cross firing while the other was arrested by the police on Saturday afternoon.
    The encounter took place in Kairon, a village in Patti. During this time about five rounds of firing are reported.
    According to initial information, Tarn Taran police had received input from drug smugglers. After this, the police blocked the road. Meanwhile, when the Verna car coming from village Koti Sekhan signalled to stop, the people sitting inside it drove the car away. The police got suspicious of them, after which they started chasing them. Seeing the police coming back, they first hit the police vehicle.
However, the police continued to chase the miscreants when they opened fire on the police team. After firing from the smugglers, the police also fired back. One smuggler was killed in this firing. The slain smuggler has been identified as Jora Singh, a resident of Koti Sekhan village. At present, the body has been taken into custody and investigation has been started.
