Due to suicides in Kota, the administration has banned students from taking regular tests in coaching centers
New Delhi: In the last few hours, two students have committed suicide in this area of Rajasthan. According to officials, 22 students preparing for competitive exams have committed suicide in the district so far in 2023.
Last year, the figure was 15. Two students took their own lives within four hours on Sunday.
According to police, Avishkar Sambhaji Kasle (17) jumped off the sixth floor of his coaching institute building in Jawahar Nagar around 3.15 pm on Sunday. Kasle had appeared for the exam a few minutes ago on the third floor of the coaching institute.
According to police, four hours after Kasle’s death, Adarsh Raj (18), who was preparing for NEET, committed suicide by hanging himself in his rented room in Kunhari police station area around 7 pm.
The reason for the drastic step like suicide by both the students was the low marks during the regular examinations conducted by the coaching institutes.
Administration bans regular tests in coaching centres
Authorities in Rajasthan’s Kota district have asked coaching institutes not to conduct regular tests for candidates preparing for NEET and other competitive exams for the next two months in the wake of student suicides.
Every year, two lakh students from across the country come to Kota to prepare for competitive exams like the Common Entrance Test (JEE) for admission to engineering colleges and the National Eligibility–Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to medical colleges.
