Target for Home Care Worker Immigration pilot programme met within hours in Canada

Toronto: The targets for the Child Care and Home Support Worker categories under the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilot Programme were met within hours of the programme’s launch on March 31, the Ministry of Immigration confirmed.

Known as the “Nanny” program, the initiative allows families in Canada to hire care workers for children or elderly parents. Workers can apply for permanent residency based on a job offer.

Immigration experts noted that many Canadian parents prefer to keep their children at home with a nanny, while others use the program to care for elderly relatives.

This year, the program aimed to receive 2,750 applications in each category, including 150 applications from individuals without status in Canada.
