Punjab E News (PEN News): A remarkable rescue operation in Cali, Colombia, has brought a moment of hope amid the devastation caused by a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake. Rescue workers pulled a three-month-old baby alive from the rubble of a collapsed residential building after hearing a faint voice beneath the debris.
The baby, identified as Salomón, was found alongside his father, Juan David Gómez, inside the collapsed Torres del Limonar building in Cali. Rescue teams and local residents worked through the debris to reach them.
Father Protected Baby Inside Collapsed Building
According to reports, rescuers heard a faint voice from beneath the rubble. The voice belonged to Salomón’s father, who told rescuers that he was trapped with his baby.
Rescue workers and volunteers then began carefully removing concrete and debris by hand. A heavy concrete slab was stabilised while rescuers created a narrow passage to reach the infant.
The baby was eventually pulled out alive and handed over to medical teams. Images from the rescue showed the infant covered in dust after spending a prolonged period trapped beneath the collapsed structure.
Salomón suffered minor injuries, including a small injury to his head, and was taken to hospital for medical observation along with his father.
