India slams Canadian Parliament’s ‘silent’ tribute to Khalistani terrorist Nijjar

New Delhi: India has criticised the Canadian Parliament for observing a minute’s silence in memory of Khalistani hardliner Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Nijjar was shot dead in Surrey, British Columbia in June last year.

External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We oppose any move that gives political space to terrorism and advocates violence. Relations between the two countries came under strain after Prime Minister Justice Trudeau alleged the possible involvement of Indian agents in Nijjar’s killing in September last year. India dismissed Trudeau’s allegations as absurd.
