Indian-origin men charged in liquor theft case in Canada’s Peel region
Toronto: Peel Regional Police have charged seven Indian-origin men in connection with thefts targeting the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO). Five of them have been arrested, while the search for two others is ongoing, police said.
According to Peel police, the men were part of an organized burglary gang that targeted LCBO stores across multiple jurisdictions. Between August 2024 and February 2025, the group allegedly stole from 50 LCBO locations.
Investigators said the suspects often worked in coordination, with some distracting store employees while others accessed restricted areas to steal liquor. Police estimate that approximately $237,738.95 worth of liquor was stolen by March 5.
Five individuals have been charged with theft over $5,000, while three of them face additional charges. Peel police are continuing their investigation to locate the remaining suspects.
