India’s own security interests involved in Pannu case probe: Jaishankar

New Delhi: India’s national security interests are involved in the probe into the alleged involvement of a government official in the conspiracy to kill Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said today.

“We are investigating it because we believe that our own national security interests are involved in this investigation,” he told reporters when asked about the statement of US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti.”

Garcetti had said that the involvement of a government official in an attempt to murder a citizen of another country was “unacceptable”.

Jaishankar said the US ambassador will say whatever is right according to his government’s thinking or position. “My government’s stand is that in this particular case, we have got some information, which we are investigating.”
