Over 250 passengers stranded in Turkey after Virgin Atlantic flight diversion
London: More than 250 passengers, including several Indians, have been stranded at Turkey’s Diyarbakir airport for over 40 hours after a Virgin Atlantic flight from London to Mumbai was diverted due to a medical emergency.
The airline said flight VS358 from Heathrow to Mumbai was forced to land in Diyarbakir on April 2. However, after landing, the A350-1000 aircraft developed a technical issue, delaying onward travel.
“We are actively exploring all options, including operating an alternate aircraft, to ensure passengers reach Mumbai at the earliest,” the airline said in a statement.
Meanwhile, stranded passengers have raised concerns over inadequate facilities. One passenger, speaking anonymously, claimed they were forced to sit on the floor without blankets or vegetarian food.
However, Virgin Atlantic stated that hotel accommodations and refreshments were being provided overnight in Turkey.
