Petition filed seeking last rites of Khalistani supporter Avtar Khanda to be performed in Moga
Punjab E News: A petition has been filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking the last rites of Avtar Singh Khanda, a close aide of Amritpal and a Khalistani supporter to be performed in Moga, who died in England on June 15. The matter will be heard on Monday, July 3.
Avtar Singh’s sister Jaspreet Kaur filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court stating that it was the last wish of her brother Avtar Singh that her brother’s last rites be performed in Moga and the ashes be immersed in Kiratpur.
In this petition, Jaspreet Kaur has made the Punjab government as well as the Central Government, Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs a party and sought permission to bring Khanda’s body to India. Khanda was also an accused in the insult of the tricolor in England recently.
