Sikh boy in Canada faces repeated attacks at school, family concerned over safety

Brampton: A Sikh boy studying in grade three at a school in Brampton, Canada, has been subjected to repeated attacks over the past several days, leaving his family fearful for his safety.

The boy’s parents allege that the school principal took the issue seriously only after the fourth attack. The father expressed concerns over the lack of timely action, which has heightened their fear of sending their son to school.

According to a media report, the boy was surrounded by classmates on multiple occasions, with one student punching him in the face. The family revealed that the attacks began as verbal abuse but soon escalated to physical violence.

The boy’s mother stated that he was admitted to Hannover Public School in September last year, a school with over 300 students.

Despite lodging complaints after the initial incidents, the violence continued. In one incident, students slapped the boy, leaving him in tears, until older children from the fourth and fifth grades intervened.

Around two-and-a-half months ago, the boy was reportedly punched in the face again. His parents informed the principal via email about the repeated attacks but said the situation has persisted.

The family’s identity has not been disclosed.
