Sikh youth beaten up, tried to remove turban in New York
Punjab E News: A 19-year-old Sikh man was punched multiple times and his turban was tried to be removed by a man on board a Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) bus in New York City in a racist attack, police said on Sunday.
Police said the two men were on a shuttle bus near 118th Street and Laberty Avenue in Richmond Hill on Sunday morning when the suspect approached the victim, ABC7 news channel reported
“We don’t wear this in this country,” he told the Sikh youth. The suspect pointed to the turban and told the victim, after which he punched the Sikh youth several times and tried to remove the turban. He then got off the bus and fled.
