Six dead after plane carrying workers to mine crashes in Canada

Ottawa: A small passenger plane, transporting workers to a mine in northern Canada, crashed shortly after take-off, resulting in six fatalities. Reports indicate that one person has survived, but there is no information available regarding their current condition.

The incident occurred shortly after the plane departed from Fort Smith at 8:50 am local time. The crash site is situated 1.1 km from the end of the runway.

Upon receiving news of the accident, both the Army and police promptly arrived at the scene, retrieved the deceased bodies, and dispatched them for postmortem examination.

The plane, identified as a jetstream twin turboprop on a charter flight to a mine by Northwestern Air, has led to the suspension of all flights from Fort Smith for today.

Canada’s Transportation Safety Board has dispatched a team to investigate this tragic incident.
