Trump’s birthright citizenship order, Indians rushing for premature deliveries in US

Washington: US President Donald Trump has announced the termination of birthright citizenship, with the policy set to take effect on February 20, 2025.

The executive order, issued on January 20, aims to prevent children born in the US to illegal immigrants or visa holders from automatically receiving American citizenship.

In response to the announcement, there has been a surge in premature deliveries, as pregnant women in the US illegally or on visas seek early births through C-sections to secure citizenship for their children and ensure a legal basis for their families to remain in the country.

Women in the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy are reportedly rushing to clinics to give birth before the policy is enforced.
