AAP launches 2027 Punjab poll campaign from Ludhiana, CM Mann attacks BJP

Ludhiana: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has kick-started its campaign for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections from Ludhiana, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann unveiling the party’s election pamphlet at an indoor stadium on Pakhowal Road.

Addressing party workers, Mann claimed that the AAP government had delivered more than the guarantees it made to the people of Punjab.

Highlighting the Sadak Suraksha Force (SSF), Mann said the road safety initiative was saving around 2,700 lives every year. He also referred to Union minister Nitin Gadkari’s appreciation of the force.

Mann targeted the BJP over its ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’, questioning the party’s record on the drug issue during the earlier SAD-BJP government. He also criticised former chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, saying previous governments had sought public support by promising to tackle drugs but had failed to eliminate the problem.

AAP plans statewide door-to-door campaign

AAP Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia also addressed the gathering and criticised the BJP-led central government. He alleged that central agencies such as the ED and CBI had been used in attempts to obstruct the Punjab government’s functioning. These were political allegations made by Sisodia.

Cabinet minister Aman Arora said around 2.68 lakh booth-level workers would take the party’s message to households across Punjab and bring local issues to the government’s attention.

The party has planned a statewide door-to-door outreach campaign as part of its preparations for the 2027 elections.

Mann also referred to the government’s welfare measures for women and other sections of society, while accusing opposition parties of failing to present a clear roadmap for the upcoming election.

The campaign launch comes amid an increasingly active political build-up in Punjab, with both AAP and BJP stepping up statewide outreach ahead of the Assembly polls.
