Moga: Amritpal Singh Mehron, who is facing allegations in the Kanchan Kumari alias Kamal Bhabhi murder case, was produced before the Civil Court in Moga on Tuesday in connection with an old case.
Police made tight security arrangements at the court under the supervision of City police station SHO Inspector Gurwinder Singh Bhullar.
According to information, a case had earlier been registered against Mehron at Mehna police station over alleged inflammatory posts on social media and displaying weapons. Police produced him before the court as part of the ongoing legal proceedings in that case.
Mehron’s lawyer, however, alleged that the case had been registered by distorting the facts. The lawyer claimed that the court had already acquitted Amritpal Singh Mehron in such a case.
He further alleged that the case was politically motivated and had no basis. The lawyer also referred to Supreme Court directions regarding cases in which an accused has already been acquitted, saying that such a matter cannot be tried again in court.
The lawyer said the defence team was examining the case and would pursue the matter through the appropriate legal process.
