Amritsar: Punjab Police have registered a case against a Germany-returned woman and two of her family members after her husband alleged that she drugged him and fled with ₹4.60 lakh in cash, gold jewellery, passports and other valuables from their home in Amritsar district.
The case was registered at Lopoke police station following a complaint by Sukhbir Singh, a resident of Bhullar village, who alleged that his wife Arshdeep Kaur, along with her parents, conspired to carry out the theft.
According to the complaint, Sukhbir Singh married Arshdeep Kaur on January 22, 2021, and claimed he had sold his house and spent around ₹25 lakh to send her to Berlin, Germany, in 2022 for better employment opportunities.
He alleged that after moving to Germany, Arshdeep’s behaviour changed and she began seeking a divorce.
Sukhbir further claimed that Arshdeep returned to her matrimonial home on July 16, and that a few days later her mother Rajwinder Kaur, father Didar Singh, and brother also arrived at the house.
The complainant alleged that on the night of July 26, the accused switched off the home’s CCTV cameras and mixed an intoxicating or poisonous substance into his food, causing him to lose consciousness.
When he regained consciousness the next day, he found the house ransacked and alleged that his wife had fled with ₹4.60 lakh in cash, gold jewellery, passports, a laptop and other valuables.
Police said a case has been registered against the accused based on the complaint and that further investigation is underway.
