Chandigarh: After concluding its anti-drug campaign in Punjab, the BJP will begin a two-day brainstorming session on Thursday to discuss its strategy for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
The discussions will be held at the Red Bishop Resort in Panchkula, Haryana, on Thursday and Friday and will be led by BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh, a key organisational link between the BJP and the RSS at the national level.
Santosh has invited all district presidents, district unit in-charges and co-in-charges for detailed discussions. Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon said the meeting would review the public response to the party’s anti-drug campaign and discuss its strategy for next year’s Assembly elections.
The BJP has also been working to identify seats where it believes it has organisational strength. According to sources, the discussions will begin on Thursday evening and continue through Friday.
The party is expected to assess the reach of its organisational network, particularly in rural areas where it has traditionally been weaker. The possibility of an alliance will also be discussed, including whether the BJP should join hands with the Shiromani Akali Dal and the Akali revival faction.
BJP state president Nitin Nabin has repeatedly said that while the party is strengthening its organisation across all 117 Assembly constituencies, any decision on alliances will be based on ground-level feedback, surveys and the preferences of voters.
The absence of direct attacks between BJP and SAD leaders at political rallies has also been seen as a possible indication of discussions taking place behind the scenes, although no formal alliance decision has been announced.
