CM Mann calls high-level meeting after Parvinder Singh Jhota’s killing

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has called a high-level online meeting following the killing of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota in Mansa, with the state’s law-and-order situation expected to be a key focus.

The meeting will be attended by senior police and administrative officials, including senior superintendents of police (SSPs), sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) and deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) from districts across Punjab.

According to reports, the chief minister is expected to review the state’s law-and-order situation and direct officials to take strict action in connection with Jhota’s killing.

The incident has intensified criticism of the Aam Aadmi Party-led state government, with opposition parties raising concerns over the law-and-order situation in Punjab.

BJP leaders, including former state party chief Sunil Jakhar, Punjab Congress leaders and senior Shiromani Akali Dal leaders have criticised the government following the killing. Their remarks have added to political pressure on the state administration as the investigation continues.
