ED raids suspended patwari’s house in Zira amid Punjab crackdown

Zira: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday conducted a raid at the residence of a suspended patwari in Zira, Ferozepur district, amid ongoing searches across Punjab.

The raid comes a day after the agency searched the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora in Moga and other locations.

According to information available, an ED team reached the residence of Navdeep Singh, a suspended patwari, around 6 am on Thursday. Security personnel accompanying the team cordoned off the house and restricted the movement of outsiders.

Singh was posted as a patwari in Dharamkot, Moga district. A case alleging fraud worth crores of rupees was registered against him at the Dharamkot police station on June 16, 2024. He was subsequently arrested by the police and suspended by the revenue department.

After spending considerable time in Faridkot jail, Singh was released on bail on July 7, 2026.

The ED team was reportedly searching the premises for documents and financial records. The agency has not yet disclosed the specific financial transactions under investigation or details of any recoveries made during the search.
