Gurdaspur: A young man was allegedly murdered in Sohian village in Gurdaspur district, following which his father also died, reportedly after suffering severe shock over his son’s death.
Police at Sri Hargobindpur Sahib have registered a case against four people and arrested one accused in connection with the murder.
According to the complaint filed by Harjit Kaur, wife of Kashmir Singh of Dhariwal, her younger son Tejinder Singh worked at a vehicle repair shop at Adda Dhariwal Sohian. On August 14, Tejinder closed his shop and returned home.
The family alleged that shortly afterwards, Gursahib Singh and Gurjit Singh Pannu, who had previously taken their vehicles to Tejinder for repairs, arrived at his house along with two unidentified men on a motorcycle. They allegedly took Tejinder with them on the pretext of getting a vehicle repaired.
The family searched for him throughout the night. The following morning, they were informed that Tejinder’s body had been found near Cheema Khudi Sua.
One accused arrested
Sri Hargobindpur DSP Manoj Kumar said a case has been registered under Sections 103, 140 and 3(5) against Gursahib Singh, Gurjit Singh Pannu and two unidentified persons.
Police have arrested Gursahib Singh, while efforts are underway to trace the remaining accused.
Meanwhile, Tejinder’s brothers said their father Kashmir Singh also died on Monday, unable to cope with the shock of his son’s death.
The family has demanded the immediate arrest of all those allegedly involved and strict legal action against them.
