New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which the two leaders discussed the latest developments in West Asia and reviewed the progress of the India-Israel strategic partnership.
The leaders exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and agreed to remain in close contact in view of the current developments.
During the conversation, both Prime Ministers also reviewed cooperation under the India-Israel strategic partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties across various sectors.
Earlier, on March 2, Prime Minister Modi had also spoken with Netanyahu, expressing India’s concerns over the regional situation and stressing the need to ensure the safety of innocent civilians. Following that conversation, Modi had stated on social media platform X that India supports an immediate end to violence and hostilities in the region.
The latest conversation comes amid continuing tensions in West Asia following the conflict that began earlier this year. India has consistently called for restraint, dialogue and the protection of civilians while maintaining engagement with regional partners.
The regional situation remains fluid, with Iran stating on Thursday that it is in the final stages of preparing an agreement with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important maritime route through which a significant share of the world’s oil and natural gas supplies passes.
