Chandigarh: Amid renewed speculation over a possible alliance between the BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon has said that the party will contest all 117 seats in the state Assembly elections on its own.
Dhillon said the Punjab BJP is preparing to field candidates across all 117 constituencies. His remarks came days after SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, triggering fresh discussions about a possible revival of the BJP-SAD alliance.
On concerns over resentment among long-time party workers following recent organisational changes, Dhillon said the party would address their concerns and persuade everyone to come together.

The Punjab BJP chief also targeted the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, questioning their alleged silence over the police lathi-charge on students in Jharkhand.
Dhillon accused both parties of deliberately creating disturbances in BJP-ruled states and alleged that they were avoiding discussions on the issue in Parliament.
Meanwhile, former MLA Darshan Singh Kotfatta joined the BJP. Dhillon formally welcomed him into the party by presenting him with a siropa.
