Punjab CM’s OSD Rajbir Singh Ghuman questioned by CBI for nearly six hours

Chandigarh: Rajbir Singh Ghuman, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for nearly six hours on Friday in connection with an ongoing investigation.

Ghuman arrived at the CBI office in Sector 30, Chandigarh, at around 3 pm and left at 8.45 pm after a lengthy session. He is scheduled to appear before the agency again on Monday.

Speaking to the media after the questioning, Ghuman said the CBI had asked him around 40 questions, which he claimed to have answered satisfactorily. He alleged that the investigation was an attempt to malign the chief minister, arguing that the Aam Aadmi Party government was set to return to power.

Describing the proceedings as political drama, Ghuman said he expected to receive a clean chit soon. He added that he would cooperate whenever the agency summoned him and urged his colleagues not to be worried. He also said the questioning had taken place in a proper atmosphere and called on the CBI to conduct an impartial investigation to establish the facts.

Ghuman appeared before the agency along with his lawyer, GPS Ghuman, in compliance with Supreme Court directions. The CBI had sent him a notice through WhatsApp on Thursday, following which he joined the investigation.
